Volunteer Opportunities
The Alanson Downtown Development Authority wishes to thank you for volunteering to help with this year Riverfest. In order to better protect you we need you to fill out the following information so in the event of an accident you will be covered by our festival insurance for liability purposes.
- Volunteer Sign-Up Form
We are also asking that our volunteers attend the ALL VOLUNTEERS PARTY THURSDAY AUGUST 12 AT 6 PM, which will be held at the Littlefield-Alanson Community Center. We will have free food and beverages and we will be passing out your name badge, which will be your pass to get into the Entertainment tent and Volunteer Tee Shirts. In addition, we will then give you instructions as to what your job will entail if need be.
Volunteer Descriptions
Greeters - Check ID’s and put wristbands while standing at the entrance. This is different from previous years. Because of the no smoking policy we anticipate there will be more in and out traffic and these people will be making sure no one goes out with drinks and when they do come back in they are wearing a button and they have a wrist band. A bar stool will be provided for you to sit on when we are not busy.
Ticket and Button Sales – they are going to be sold together this year. Need to be trained how to use the cash registers.
Table Bussers – Make sure the tables are cleared of beer cans and glasses.
Bartenders – Serve the alcohol beverages. Bartenders may not drink or be drunk while serving. You must pay attention to the persons you are serving do not be afraid to refuse to serve someone who you can tell is over intoxicated. If they give you, a hard time let person in charge know (the one with the radio) and they will have the security guards handle the situation.
Information Tent – Need to actively greet people, welcome them to our festival, and make people aware of what is going on during the festival. There will be brochures for you pass out that will include a map of the festival and the schedules of events taking place all weekend. There will be buttons and tee shirts and possible souvenirs for sale also.
Crossing Guards – help people cross the road from the flea market.
Street Cleaners and Trash Removal – Empty trashcans when needed and haul it to dumpster and because of the No Smoking law, we are sure there will be extra cigarette butts littering the streets even though we are going to try to supply buckets to put them in. Brooms and dustpans will be provided.
Toilet Paper Patrol – Check all the potties to make sure they are stocked with TP the key and the supplies will be in the Entertainment Tent.
Town Crier – Roam about town with a megaphone and cry out the different events taking place or are about to.
Street Booth Markers – measure out the booth spots on River Street and mark them with spray paint so exhibitors know where their spot is. Genevieve has a map drawing this out.
Set Up – (Grunts) Need strong arms and backs and a willingness to do whatever needs to be done to get everything ready for the festival to begin.
Clean-Up in the Entertainment Tent - This can be done early in the morning Saturday and Sunday. You will need to straighten tables and chairs and make sure they and the tent is clean and ready to go for the day. You may need to pick up trash on the ground.
